So, I finally did it. I downloaded the trial version of 3ds Max. This is a professional grade 3d modeling program and its VERY expensive. Too pricely to really consider. But all I have heard since Metaplace is how much easier it is to work than blender. Well I had given up on all that...the idea of doing gaming art. But I was talking to a friend who works for Playdom the other day and he got me thinking about it again. He was in Austin where they are opening another office. Austin is not anywhere near where I am moving in texas, but I asked for the hiring information anyways. Turns out as we were chatting on IM he was lunching with thier hiring manager. So...he's already ehard my name. And said I would probably be better for when the office expands. They need one really proficient person right now. proficient in 3d Max, Photoshop and Flash. Photoshop I can learn, its Flash and Max that will be the problem.

So, I downloaded it. Audodesk called me today to ask about my reasons for downloading the trial and if I was really considering investing in it, and what kind of liscence I would want. I told them it wasn't for business, but to become proficient enough to be considered for a job. That seemed to be good enough for them. She said some local support would be contacting me in a couple days. That bit surprised me.

And I wasn't lying. If I can somewhat wrap my head around it, I can use retirement money to buy it. Even if I don't get the job. Its what I want to learn. I still have Grome and can get Unity again if I want. I know I can't make my own games by myself. But I can play.
