Couldn't my life have changed more since my last entry?
For almost a year, work kept me from any creative persuits. About a year ago, arthritis settled in my knee but at first I figured it was yet another fibromyalgia thing, go me, and didn't have the time or energy to deal with it. The pain finally got so bad I had to quit my job at the end of March. I started the process of getting X-rays and MRIs, etc at the VA. But the biggest thing that helped the pain was to get off my feet. Not completely, I still walk. But work was killing me with pain. Jumped through hoops here with the VA here and was told I was not eligible for surgery. My general practitioner sent me to the VA in Albequerque for a second opinion and the surgeon there is willing to give me a knee replacement, whenever I am ready. My first application for disability has been denied.
In the meantime, I need a job where I don't stand all day. I enrolled in school at Vista College for Medical Information Systems. The VA is helping me pay for that with the VRAP program. Didn't find out I could get surgery until after I started school, so I need to finish school before getting surgery as there is an approximate recovery time of 6 months.
So the plan is, finish school, get the operation, recover, apply for my cert, and then get a job.
In the meantime, I finally joined the Amarillo Steampunk group and so far having fun with it. Putting together and planning outfits and my character has been fun. It has been an interesting challenge. I have RPed online off and on for years. But I have never played a character that I then would LARP in person.
Creatively....lately all I have been working on is costuming and baby stuff. Kelly's son and his wife just had a baby boy. I have one last little sweater to finish and I have finished my basic outfit for meetings. So I hope to do some character drawing soon.
We need mo kick moo mooo ass
So, yeah, thats the Nameless Guardian. Took three of us to kill him, but that was awhile ago. He may have a name now, who knows.
I have been doing volunteer stuff for Stratics.com, including writing for and moderating Project Gorgon's Forums. Project Gorgon is an indie game in development. It is in open alpha testing, no NDA. So go take a look! http://projectgorgon.com/
My schooling days at Vista College are officially over. No more class, no more externship. Just have to take my certification test. I have my knee surgery May 30th and will take my test at the end of June. So I have time to study.
Hoping to get to Scarborough Faire some tim
I have the most AWESOME muse ever.
Recently angelicvanilla started assigning us both simple drawing assignments and we had to make time to them. So glad I did because now I am drawing again!
I replaced my Bamboo with an Intous and I LOVE it. It came with Sketchbook Express, which I totally fell in love with. Its very simple, more simple than I need but it does two things I love. First, the default tools actually resemble thier real life counterparts. Sketching with a pencil behaves like real pencil sketching. Secondly, you can turn you picture at whatever angle works for you using the touch gestures. I love this. I am actually enjoying working on inking now!
School got reall
Why didn't someone tell me about THIS??
I mean, seriously? THIS is everything I have been looking for since the close of Metaplace. Some way to make my own RPG and include as much of my own art as I want. And here it is...and has been for quite awhile.
Neverwinter Nights 2.
I have known since DDO beta that NWN was more true to D&D. But DDO was so pretty and fun and lets face it....OTG is the greatest guild ever! So I always meant to try it but never really did. Well, I noticed it was on sale before Christmas at 75% off and that included thier Map and Campagn Creation Toolset.
Thier what?
So I bought it and started digging around. I played the game a tiny bit and visted a couple
Adjusting to Texas
Been here for 3 months. We started out in a tiny house. Then I spent a month of solid house before I found our house. It was very discouraging process as we collectively have 5 cats and renters do not want to allow cats. I saw houses I wanted that would not allow cats in our price range. The ones that did were either small or or very horrid HUD houses. But I kept looking, every day. Finally found this house and I still love it. I have put a lot of energy into getting it all set up. We have our own bedrooms, I have my own craft room, big living room, nice computer room and big back yard....which I have really been enjoying since the weather fi
